Travel information displayed at Pembrokeshire’s bus stops is among the best in Wales, according to a leading coach and bus industry magazine.

Coach and Bus Week recently ran a feature looking at the quality of roadside publicity across the country, in light of the forthcoming Bus Services Bill, where local authorities could be developing partnerships and potential managing services directly.

The author of the report, ‘Merlin’, said: “Winner of the trip was Pembrokeshire with conventional format timetable displays tailored to each location with superfluous lines removed and the appropriate point time in contrasting red type.

“This was supported in Haverfordwest bus station by chronological electronic displays by bay.”

Pembrokeshire has over 30 bus stops with electronic signage and over 40 buses fitted with a transmitter to provide real-time journey information.

The Council’s Transport Section is looking at further ways of improving the information provided at key bus focal points.

Pembrokeshire County Councillor,  Rob Lewis, Cabinet Member for Transportation, said he was pleased that the clear signage at the County’s bus stops had been praised.

“The provision of clear and accurate bus timetable information is vital in encouraging people to use bus services.”
