People in St. Clears invited to have their say and help shape new dementia strategy for Wales

Alzheimer’s Society, working in collaboration with Welsh Government and the Dementia Engagement & Empowerment Project (DEEP), want to hear how life could be made easier for people affected by dementia in Newtown.

A series of consultation events will be held across Wales to capture the views of people affected by dementia and will be coming to St Clears, Carmarthenshire onTuesday 6 December between 11am – 2.30pm with lunch provided.

Alzheimer’s Society would like to meet with people living with dementia, their carers and families from the local area. Those attending will also be invited back to discuss the content of the draft Dementia Strategy for Wales in January 2017.

Sue Phelps, Director of Alzheimer’s Society in Wales said;

“There are 2,939  people living with dementia in Carmarthenshire and we want to hear their views on what they want to see included in the Dementia Strategy which will guide Welsh Government policies to support people to live well with dementia now and in the future and make Wales a truly dementia friendly nation.

“This is a real opportunity for people affected by dementia to let us know what is important to them. We are committed to ensuring that the voices of people affected by dementia are heard. Through working closely with Welsh Government and DEEP and bringing these events to communities across Wales we hope to inform and shape the new dementia strategy so it truly supports those impacted the most by dementia.”
