IBS SUPPORT FOR ABERTAWE BRO MORGANNWG SUFFERERS
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) sufferers in the Abertawe Bro Morganwwg area now have a new project to help them cope with the condition.
IBS Support, a project by Social Enterprise CETMA is funded by the Changing for the Better Small Grants Programme. This pilot project has created 5 support groups for people with IBS in Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend and works towards better understanding in the community ofIBS and how it affects a person.
Jonathan Williams, Managing Director of CETMA said: “Thanks to the Changing for the Better Grant, this service will be provided in community centres and shopping centres across the region so as to be as accessible as possible.”
“Participants will be encouraged to explore and discover dietary and lifestyle approaches to IBS management so that they will be better able to manage their condition successfully.”
“The project will also aim to help people overcome any embarrassment they might feel which might prevent them from seeking out professional medical help. In this way the project would serve as a first point of contact for those not yet receiving the medical support they need.”
Groups are currently set up in Neath Library on a Tuesday, Port Talbot Library on a Wednesday and from Tesco Fforestfach on a Thursday.
