Andrew RT Davies: Bottom-of-the-table GVA figures shows Welsh Labour “isn’t working”

Wales is again at the bottom of a UK table measuring the strength of the economy, ONS figures have revealed.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has published regional gross value added (GVA) figures for 2015, which measure how much money is generated through goods produced and services delivered.

Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, Andrew RT Davies, has reacted to the figures urging the Welsh Government to “put its money where its mouth is” and avoid any further delays to vital infrastructure projects.

He said: “That Wales has yet again come in at the bottom of another UK table, only a week after the disastrous PISA results were released, shows that when it comes to the economy Welsh Labour simply isn’t working.
“Welsh Conservatives have been pushing for many initiatives to increase Wales’ share of GVA, including the development of a North Wales Powerhouse.

“There is so much more the Welsh Labour Government could be doing to stimulate economic growth, from improving access to finance for small businesses and providing greater business rate relief.

“Constantly delaying important infrastructure projects such as the M4 relief road are not helping matters, and the Welsh Government must now put its money where its mouth is.”
