Pembrey & Burry Port Annual Christmas Carnival

The Pembrey & Burry Port Christmas Festival Lights switch on in December promises to be a dazzling entertaining show of lights, and fireworks display, the best ever in many years.

A fireworks display over the town, from the harbour area, will be a prelude to a dazzling display of lights from Christmas Trees in the Town Centre, around the Memorial, and Amelia Earhart Gardens, as well as the display of lights in the Memorial Gardens.

A parade of school children from Burry Port Juniors, and Parc y Tywyn  schools, accompanied by marching bands, and corps of drums will accompany Father Christmas from the  Plas y Mor elderly residents centre, as well as Mary and Joseph and their trusty donkey.

The festive fun commences at 6 o’clock on the evening of December 3rd with the fireworks display, and the parade commencing immediately afterwards to the Christmas tree lights switch on Ceremony at around 6.30, by the incumbent Pembrey & Burry Port Town Mayor Cllr Stephen James.

The children from the two schools, weather permitting, will serenade their audience with Christmas carols, at the switch on, a nativity tableau will be on view in the Memorial Gardens.

A Christmas fair will be held in the Memorial Hall after the switch one, where Local Groups, and Charities, will display their Christmas wares, food and refreshments will be available, and families will be able to visit Father Christmas’ Grotto.

Entrance to the fair will be at a cost of £1 for adults and children free of charge. A raffle with very exciting prizes will be drawn during the event.

Musical entertainment inside the hall will be presented by the children’s choirs of Burry Port Juniors and Parc y Tywyn schools.
