Sewage Discharge at Nolten Haven Pembrokeshire
Officers from Environment Agency Wales are on site at Nolton Haven in Pembrokeshire, where a broken sewer has been discharging diluted sewage into a stream which flows into the Nolton Haven beach.
The problem was discovered by Agency officers during a routine survey of the area this afternoon. Officers have taken water samples at the beach for analysis and the results of these will be shared with Pembrokeshire County Council.
Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has been on site to correct the problem and the discharge has now stopped. A spokesperson from Environment Agency Wales said:
“Our officers will continue to monitor the situation closely and will take further water samples later in the week to assess the impact of the pollution.
“We will investigate how this has occurred and will take action as appropriate.”
Pembrokeshire County Council spokesman, Len Mullins, said the Authority had erected warning signs at Nolton Haven informing beach users of a suspected pollution incident.
“We have advised beach users that the quality of the bathing water could be adversely affected.”
