Celtic Womenfest 2012
A PLATFORM FOR WOMEN’S MUSIC IN WALES. With more than 50 performers over 2 days, in the inspirational setting of The National Botanic Garden of Wales, CW12 promises to be the BIGGEST Women’s Music Event in the UK!! On Sunday 26th and Monday 27th August!
Hosted by Award Winning Singer/Songwriter, Festival Founder & Creative Director Cheryl Beer, with Women Musicians from every genre: Amy Wadge, Jen Wilson with Margot Morgan, Heather Jones, Sian James, Lorraine King … alongside up and coming acts such as Stephanie Finegan, Jemma Krysa, Sarah Passmore and many more …
From Harp to Post Punk, Folk to Jazz … Contemporary to Traditional … there will be something for everyone’s taste in the programme.
In addition we will have Spoken Word Poets, including the Resident Poet at the Garden Mab Jones, This year’s John Tripp Award Winner Rhian Edwards and Assc. Editor of Parthian Press Susie Wild.
Workshops in Dance via Arts Care Gofal Celf, Drumming with Rachel Hargrave, Singing with Sam Collins & Sound Sculpture with Bríd Wyldearth.
Bi-lingual Presenters include Ruth Price Deputy Mayoress of Llanelli & Helen Davies as Queen Elizabeth 1 (who apparently was fluent in Welsh!)
We will be based in The Marquee to take advantage of indoor/oudoor space.
It costs £8.50 for an adult, £7.00 for OAP’s, £4.50 for children aged 5 plus and FREE for under 5’s …. to get into the Garden on any day of the week … Celtic Womenfest is NO EXTRA COST! So you get to stroll around the glorious Gardens, as well as be part of this AMAZING EVENT.
There has been no outside funding for CW12. The Garden have very kindly given the venue and paid for the infrastructure. ALL the acts over the weekend will come for love, in kind or because they feel it is important to be part of CW12 … we would love to see you there 🙂
