Monro Walters new Chair of the Llanelli Choral Society
The Llanelli Choral Society is proud to announce that Mr Monro Walters takes over the Chairmanship of the Llanelli Choral Society.
Monro Walter, a long standing choristers of the Society and a recognised individual in the town of Llanelli and various town organisations, takes over the chairmanship from retiring chairman, Cerith Owens.
“We are indebted to the great work and commitment which Cerith has put into the Society over recent years”, explains the choir’s founder and director of music, John Hywel Williams. “Cerith has brought great energy to the choir and we are delighted that Cerith will remain a key member of the committee moving forward. We are very excited to welcome Monro Walter as our new Chairman. Monroe brings great skill, great expertise and great enthusiasm to the role.”
“As we celebrate our 15th anniversary, we can look back on the years with pride, look at the present with excitement and look to our future plans with great enthusiasm”, said Monro Walters. “It is an honour, a pleasure and an exciting challenge to accept the role of Chairmanship which I look forward to doing.”
The past twelve months have been an exciting time for the Llanelli Choral Society and audiences – giving all a thrilling range of choral experiences – star performances with great celebrities such as Alfie Boe, performing at great historic venues such as Winchester Cathedral and the Brangwyn Hall, from performing the most challenging of choral works to the great enthusiasm and passion of the Llanelli Proms.
The choir looks forward with great drive to the forthcoming concert season and chapter in its history which will soon include a televised broadcast at the inaugural opening performance of Y Ffwrnes, performances both away and at home, joining great local performances such as the Magic of Christmas and the Llanelli Proms and the sheer excitement of performing a new and diverse repertoire ‘From Bach to Broadway… and beyond!”
The choir will be welcoming new members in September as the choir prepares for its forthcoming televised performances and new repertoire spanning the world of film, theatre, classical and contemporary choral music.
