RESIDENTS are being asked for their help to develop an Integrated Network Map of walking and cycling routes in Carmarthenshire.
The council is asking for feedback on some of the county’s most popular walking and cycling routes, as well as suggested improvements and potential new links as part of its commitment under The Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013.
The aim is to produce an Integrated Network Map, setting out the council’s 15 year programme of improvements to active travel routes in the county.
Consultation events are being held in Ammanford, Carmarthen and Llanelli for members of the public to view the draft map and discuss with officers.
Individual maps for Ammanford, Burry Port, Carmarthen, Cross Hands, Kidwelly, Llandovery, Llanelli, Pontarddulais and St Clears can also be viewed online accompanied by a short survey.
Views and ideas will be used to finalise the Integrated Network Map before it is submitted to Welsh Government.
Executive Board Member for the Environment Cllr Hazel Evans said: “As part of our commitment to making better provision for walkers and cyclists in Carmarthenshire, we will be producing an Integrated Network Map, setting out our 15 year programme of improvements to active travel routes across Carmarthenshire.
“We want to gain the views of local residents about the routes they use for walking and cycling to help shape our approach and priorities in relation to active travel within the county. Our aim to make active travel the most attractive option for shorter journeys and to connect key sites such as workplaces, hospitals, schools and shopping areas with traffic free routes and cycle lanes.”
The consultation events are being held between 9.30am and 4pm at Ammanford Town Hall on Monday, July 10; St Peter’s Civic Hall, Carmarthen on Wednesday, July 12 and Llanelli Library on Tuesday, July 19.
