Two Llanelli males have been given on the spot fines for dumping a bag of carpet.
Following a tip off from the public, Carmarthenshire Council Enforcement Officers issued the two men with fixed penalty notices for depositing bags of offcuts at the rear of Caswell Steet and Graig Avenue.
The driver was fined £300 for failing to produce a waste carriers licence and the driver and the passenger were fined £75 each for depositing the bag.
A further £300 fixed penalty notice was issued to another man carrying green waste in the Llangennech area for failing to produce a waste carriers licence.
The council’s executive board member for public protection, Cllr Phillip Hughes said: “We are determined to clear up our back lanes in Carmarthenshire and we rely on the public to help us to do that.
“There is a minority of people who show total disregard and we will continue to take action against them.”
A waste carrier’s licence must be obtained if you are carrying waste as part of your business, buying, selling or depositing waste or arranging for someone to carry other people’s waste.
