Llanelli RFC’s head coach Phil Davies has linked up with his new-look coaching group who have collectively has set out their vision for the club’s immediate future.
A former stalwart of Llanelli RFC himself playing over 300 games during the 1980s and 1990s has returned to his rugby roots to lead the town side in the Principality Premiership.
The new-look coaching group of Defence Coach Dai Flanagan and Attack Coach Paul Fisher under Davies’ leadership will look to build a legacy for the town’s next generation of young players built on the solid foundations of the club’s proud history.
Davies will bring with him vast coaching knowledge with ten years experience coaching at Leeds Tykes, Scarlets, Worcester Warriors, Cardiff Blues and will continue to work with Namibia’s national side alongside his Llanelli RFC role.
Looking forward to the season ahead Davies said; “Having spent my near 15 year playing career with Llanelli RFC it’s an honour to be returning to the club as head coach.
“As a former player myself I know how special the club is and I was immensely proud to pull on the Llanelli RFC week in week out. As well as developing a clear and aligned game plan for the immediate future ensuring that Llanelli is competitive in the new-look Principality Premiership I also believe it’s vitally important that we create an environment that nurtures pride in the shirt.
“We have a very proud history that gives us a solid foundation to build on and develop our own legacy going forward. We have a lot of potential within the group as players, coaches and backroom staff alike and I’m looking forward to seeing the fruits of our combined labour.”
Llanelli will get their competitive season underway at Parc y Scarlets against fellow Scarlets feeder club Carmarthen Quins on Saturday 26th August.
