New town centre loan scheme

OVER £400,000 is being made available to help bring empty sites and premises in Llanelli and Ammanford town centres back into use.

A new funding pot has been set up by Carmarthenshire County Council, with support from the Welsh Government, to support the regeneration of the town centres.

Developers will be able to apply for interest free loans towards their redevelopment projects, but must be able to prove that they will be creating town centre floor space for commercial, leisure or residential use.

The pot of funding is split equally between Llanelli and Ammanford, with people able to apply for a loan worth £25,000 or more, up to a maximum of 75 per cent ‘loan to value’ of their project cost, repayable over a period of five years.

Leader of Carmarthenshire County Council, Cllr Emlyn Dole, chairs town centre taskforce groups in both Llanelli and Ammanford.

He said: “This loan fund is part of an overall plan to support the regeneration of the town centres and encourage more private sector investment.

“We hope it will give developers the foot up the ladder they need to get their ideas off the ground, and in turn provide something new for shoppers and visitors to Llanelli and Ammanford.”

MAE dros £400,000 ar gael er mwyn helpu i sicrhau bod safleoedd gwag yng nghanol trefi Llanelli a Rhydaman yn cael eu defnyddio unwaith eto.

Mae cronfa gyllid newydd wedi cael ei sefydlu gan Gyngor Sir Caerfyrddin gyda chymorth gan Lywodraeth Cymru er mwyn cefnogi adfywio canol y trefi.

Bydd datblygwyr yn gallu gwneud cais am fenthyciadau di-log ar gyfer eu prosiectau ailddatblygu ond bydd yn rhaid iddynt brofi y byddant yn creu arwynebedd llawr at ddibenion masnachol, hamdden a phreswyl yng nghanol y dref. 

Rhennir y gronfa gyllid yn gyfartal rhwng Llanelli a Rhydaman.  Bydd pobl yn gallu gwneud cais am fenthyciad gwerth £25,000 neu fwy, hyd at uchafswm o 75% o werth y prosiect, i’w ad-dalu dros gyfnod o bum mlynedd.

Mae’r Cynghorydd Emlyn Dole sef Arweinydd Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin yn cadeirio grwpiau tasglu canol y dref yn Llanelli a Rhydaman.

Dywedodd: “Mae’r benthyciad hwn yn rhan o gynllun cyffredinol i gefnogi adfywio canol trefi ac annog mwy o fuddsoddiad gan y sector preifat.

“Rydym yn gobeithio y bydd yn rhoi’r hwb sydd ei angen ar ddatblygwyr i ddatblygu eu syniadau ymhellach ac, yn ei dro, yn darparu rhywbeth newydd ar gyfer siopwyr ac ymwelwyr sy’n dod i Lanelli a Rhydaman.”
