BE one of the first to experience the picturesque Tywi Valley Path at this year’s Royal Welsh Show – without breaking a sweat!

Visitors to the county council marquee will be able to take a virtual tour of the route which is set to become a major leisure tourist attraction.

As this year’s host county; a range of activities and events are planned throughout the week to show the best of Carmarthenshire.

Visitors on the Monday can find out more about the ambitious multi-million-pound Tywi Valley Path between Carmarthen and Llandeilo, as well as the county’s ambition to become the cycling hub of Wales.

Activities will include balance bikes for the little ones and Go Ride bike handling skills for older children, with a special visit from council road safety mascot Gary GoSafe.

Visitors will be encouraged to give their views on the council’s cycling strategy, there will also be road safety demonstrations, fishing displays, and various other promotions.

Executive Board Member for the Environment Cllr Hazel Evans said: “We want to make Carmarthenshire the cycling capital of Wales, and what better place to showcase what the county has to offer, both now and in the not-to-distant future, than at the Royal Welsh Show.

“There are a number of exciting developments in place, from the stunning Tywi Valley Path which will provide fun for all the family to enjoy, to the closed circuit facility at Pembrey catering for the more serious cyclist.

“Our aim is to deliver a healthier, better connected and more sustainable future for Carmarthenshire.”

The Royal Welsh Show is being held at the showground in Llanelwedd from July 24 to 27.
