New Police & Crime Panel to meet
A NEW Dyfed Powys Police and Crime Panel is to hold its first meeting in Carmarthen next week.
The panel is made up of 14 members – three from each of the four local authorities in the Dyfed Powys area, and two co-opted independent members.
A new panel was appointed following the county council elections in May, with Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys nominating councillors to sit on it.
The panel, which was set up to support and scrutinise the Police and Crime Commissioner, meets every three months.
At their first meeting on Friday, July 28, they will have the opportunity to meet and question the Commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn, who will be in attendance.
They will elect a Chair and Vice Chair for the coming year, and also discuss their work going forward, which could include researching and reporting on certain issues which are of interest to the public.

The meetings are open to the press and public, and with the prior permission of the Chair, people can ask questions or make a statement in relation to a matter being considered by the panel, with the exception of personnel matters.
