LLANELLI has been chosen to host a British stand up paddle board (SUP) event as part of an epic tour of the UK.
The North Dock is the only Welsh location chosen for the UK-wide tour by organisers Red Paddle Co.
The team will descend on Llanelli on Wednesday, providing locals and visitors the chance to have a go and see for themselves why SUP is the world’s fastest growing sport.
With a board to match every rider, whether a complete beginner or seasoned racer, the tour is open to all, providing visitors with the chance to meet other riders, find out more about the sport, and try the boards under expert supervision.
Leisure executive board member Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths said: “It is wonderful that Llanelli has been chosen to host the fourth stop of this nationwide tour. This is a great way to showcase the fantastic coastline that we have in Carmarthenshire that lends itself perfectly to this fastest growing sport.
“For anyone who has an interest in water sports then Carmarthenshire is the ideal location to come for your holiday.”
There will be a host of activities for visitors to try on the day including SUP yoga, Dragon racing (team races featuring four riders which is fast and exhilarating) and guided SUP tours.
