Methodist couple Rev Christopher and his wife Deacon Vivienne Gray have enjoyed a trip of a lifetime to Peru and raised over £2,000 for Action for Children projects in Swansea, Port Talbot and Briton Ferry in the process. The intrepid couple took on Inca Trail trekking from Cuzco to Machu Picchu.

Rev Gray said: ‘We had an absolutely wonderful time in Peru. It’s an extraordinary country and the Inca Trail is breath-taking in its scenery, history and culture. It really was a trip of a lifetime and we both have great memories of the trip.

‘We were also delighted to have raised so much money for Action for Children as last year Viv and I visited a number of brilliant local projects for families run by Action for Children in Port Talbot, Briton Ferry and Swansea. Action for Children is also a charity that has its roots in the Methodist Church and we have supported it for many years and fully understand the impact that Action for Children projects have on people’s lives.’

Nina Rice, Action for Children’s fundraiser in Wales, added: ‘Taking on such an exciting adventure for Action for Children was wonderful and to raise £2,000 for us is exceptional. We’re very proud of our Methodist roots and we’re grateful our local projects’ work is being recognised by the church in this way.’
