A tourism business in Pendine has been awarded Carmarthenshire Rural Enterprise Fund grant to help establish its premises.
The £2m Carmarthenshire Rural Enterprise Fund was established to encourage rural businesses in Carmarthenshire to develop new and existing business premises, where new jobs are created.
The Pendine business Tea by the Sea is based in the newly developed Parry Thomas Centre adjacent to Pendine’s promenade.
Tea by the Sea received a CREF grant of £12,559.47 for internal construction works to enable a tea room/café to trade from the unit. The proprietor Mrs Wendy Gray has created the equivalent of six full-time jobs.
Carmarthenshire County Council Leader Cllr Emlyn Dole, who is the executive board member responsible for regeneration, said: “The Carmarthenshire Rural Enterprise Fund was established with the aim of creating jobs in rural Carmarthenshire.
“It does this by offering grant support to business in rural areas to upgrade their premises to create new employment opportunities.
“I’m delighted that Tea by the Sea has received CREF grants to set up their businesses at the Parry Thomas Centre.”
