Bowling for over 16s

VULNERABLE young people and young adults are being offered the chance to go tenpin bowling once a month thanks to Carmarthenshire Youth Support Service.

Staff from the Youth Support Team (16-25 years) in Carmarthen have set up a partnership with the Xcel Bowling Centre in Johnstown to provide an evening of bowling for up to 12 people free of charge every first Thursday of the month.

The successful first session was held on July 6 when nine young people along with two babies and a toddler attended. The next event is on September 7 from 4.30-6.30pm.

The aim of the project is to provide an enjoyable activity for vulnerable young people, young adults and their families on a regular basis with support from the Youth Support Team. The project aims to integrate young people from different areas of the county and link with county wide youth workers in order that they are able to access the type of support they need, when and where they need it.

It is hoped that the project will give young people the confidence and ability to participate in a wide variety of opportunities offered by the Youth Support Service across Carmarthenshire.

Carmarthenshire County Council Executive Board Member for Education and Children’s Services, Cllr Glynog Davies said: “This exciting new project is aimed at youngsters having fun and mixing with others who may be facing difficulties similar to theirs.

“It gives them the opportunity to share experiences and build on helping each other and making friendships. We are delighted that our partnership with Xcel has made it possible to put on these events which have so much to offer young people.”

Pobl ifanc yn cwrdd i fowlio deg

Mae pobl ifanc fregus yn cael y cyfle i fowlio deg bob mis diolch i Wasanaeth Cymorth Ieuenctid Sir Gaerfyrddin.

Mae staff o’r Tîm Cymorth Ieuenctid (16-25 oed) yng Nghaerfyrddin wedi sefydlu partneriaeth gyda Chanolfan Fowlio Xcel yn Nhre Ioan i ddarparu noson o fowlio am ddim i hyd at 12 o bobl ar ddydd Iau cyntaf bob mis.

Cynhaliwyd y sesiwn gyntaf lwyddiannus ar Orffennaf 6 pan ddaeth naw person ifanc ynghyd, yn ogystal â dau faban ac un plentyn bach. Cynhelir y digwyddiad nesaf ar Fedi 7 rhwng 4.30pm a 6.30pm.

Nod y prosiect yw cynnig gweithgaredd pleserus i bobl ifanc fregus, oedolion ifanc bregus, a’u teuluoedd, a hynny’n rheolaidd gyda chefnogaeth gan y Tîm Cymorth Ieuenctid. Nod y prosiect yw dod â phobl ifanc ynghyd o wahanol ardaloedd yn y sir a dod â nhw i gysylltiad â gweithwyr ieuenctid o’r sir er mwyn iddynt gael defnyddio’r math o gefnogaeth sydd ei hangen arnynt, pa bryd bynnag a pha le bynnag mae ei hangen arnynt.

Y gobaith yw y bydd y prosiect yn rhoi’r hyder a’r gallu i bobl ifanc gymryd rhan yn yr ystod eang o gyfleoedd a gynigir gan Wasanaeth Cymorth Ieuenctid Sir Gaerfyrddin.

Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Glynog Davies, yr Aelod o’r Bwrdd Gweithredol dros Addysg a Gwasanaethau Plant yng Nghyngor Sir Caerfyrddin: “Nod y prosiect cyffrous hwn yw cael pobl ifanc i gael hwyl ac i gymysgu ag eraill a allai fod yn wynebu anawsterau tebyg.

“Mae’n rhoi cyfle iddyn nhw rannu profiadau, helpu ei gilydd a meithrin cyfeillgarwch. Rydym wrth ein bodd fod ein partneriaeth ag Xcel wedi ei gwneud hi’n bosibl inni ddarparu’r digwyddiadau hyn, sydd â chymaint i’w gynnig i bobl ifanc.”
