Teams Gather for Tournament

• St Cyres hosts first Byte Night Wales Football Tournament
• £1000 raised to help vulnerable children and young people at risk of homelessness

St Cyres Comprehensive School, in partnership with local football club Cogan Coronation FC, has hosted Action for Children’s first Byte Night Wales 5-a-side football tournament.

The Byte Night Wales board invited teams across Wales to come together as part of the UK’s largest sponsored sleepout to help fight issues that can lead to youth homelessness.

David Sadler, Head of IT Recruitment at Acorn and co-chair of the Byte Night Wales board, said: ‘I’m thrilled we put on this tournament. It was great to see so many teams taking part and raising money for this brilliant cause. It was very competitive and congratulations to Source Insurance for battling through to the end and winning the tournament.

‘We raised a brilliant £1,000 for the children and young people who need it most in our communities. It’s a wonderful boost ahead of the big sleepout next month where we’ll have over 100 people having a night under stars raising even more money and awareness for Byte Night.’

Byte Night returns to Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Friday October 6th with Welsh professionals working in business and IT-related sectors being set the challenge of spending a night exposed to the elements. An incredible £1.2 million was raised in the UK by over 1,200 sleepers in 2016 with Wales playing its part for the first time.
