Poppy Appeal 2017
Carmarthenshire County Council’s Chairman is urging local residents to back the British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Chair Cllr Irfon Jones is supporting the 2017 Poppy Appeal and has agreed that poppies can be placed in council premises.
The Head of the Poppy Appeal Shane Crowhurst said: “The Poppy Appeal currently stands at just over £45.8m and is once again an all-time record, surpassing both last and the previous year’s totals. This is an incredible testament to the public’s generosity.
“We spend over £1.7m a week on our beneficiaries. Our Poppy People campaign, which attracts new volunteers, is still very much in force and anyone over 16 years of age is eligible to help us which they can do by sending an email to volunteersupport@britishlegion.org.uk”
This year Remembrance falls from October 28 until November 12.
Cllr Irfon Jones said: “I’m pleased to support the Poppy Appeal and I would urge people to give generously once again. The need for the services of the British Legion is increasing and the role of the Poppy Appeal is as vital as ever.”
