Nobody believes in luck more than the Irish, but alas, the luckiest man isnĀ“t green. TheĀ so-called āLuckiest man aliveā is a Croatian that goes by the name ofĀ FraneĀ Sleak. He was born in Croatia the 14thĀ of June, 1929, and he has cheated death about seven times, and as he laughingly describes: āI donĀ“t want to stop cheating herā.
He also won the lottery in 2010, survived two train crashes and fell from a malfunctioning plane door landing on a haystack, escaped from a later exploding car, and almost fell to a 300 ft precipice. Those stories sound like miracles, but the 88 years old Croatian says: āitĀ“s a bit of luck but itĀ“s also the lack of it. If you think about it, I have suffered seven accidents in my lifeā.
The first time he dodged the call from death was in 1962, when the train he boarded derailed over a bridge, sending the carts to the freezing cold water. Frank escaped with a fracture, some bruises, a little hypothermia, but alive. Other 17 passengers werenāt so lucky and perished in that train crash, this reminds of a movie with Bruce Willis.
Only one year later, he was a passenger at a flight that suffered a malfunction in one of its doors, sendingĀ SleakĀ into the air. Almost by miracle he fell more thousands of feet just to land on a haystack. The plane later crashed and killed 19 passenger and crew members.
That luck/bad luck didnĀ“t stop there, three years later he was riding a bus when the vehicle lost control and crashed into a river. FourĀ peoplediedĀ that day, but FrankĀ SleakĀ survived with only a few bruises and cuts. He also survived a few car crashes, in one he avoided a bus and almost fell 300 ft, and in the other case the fuel tank of his car cough fire to explode later, he jumped out seconds before that.
He was going to place a bet when a bus struck him, suffering minor injuries. He also won Ā£ 600,000 in the national lottery, in gamesĀ like the ones of theĀ Irish Lottery bets.Ā Feeling lucky already? Well, Mr.Ā SleakĀ says that everything is a ā50/50 chance, why not take the chance?ā Even when recently he gave away some of his fortune, he owns a mansion in a private island.
