To celebrate its 40th year in 2013, the volunteer crew and management at the station are trying to gather as many photographs and stories of rescues carried out by Burry Port RNLI.
During the 40 years it has been in service, the station has been involved in hundreds of calls-out and assisted thousands of people.
The dedicated crew at the station is ready to go to the assistance of those in danger day and night 365 days of the year. Since 1973 the station has assisted over 750 people, boats suffering mechanical difficulties, swimmers in danger, people cut off by the incoming tide, JCBs, micro light aircraft, water bikes, inflatable toys, wind surfers and kite boarders.
Hugh Owen, Lifeboat Press Officer at Burry Port RNLI says:
‘If you were rescued or assisted by the station’s lifeboats and have a tale to tell please contact the station. We would be delighted to hear from you.’
The station is also gathering photographs and anecdotes of fundraising events so if you have memories you would like to share please get in touch.
