Gwaith gwych gan y Rhaglen Esgyn
Mae Paul Allchurch wedi dod o hyd i waith gyda’r GIG ar ôl chwilio gyda chefnogaeth Rhaglen Esgyn Sir Gaerfyrddin – un o dros 100 o bobl sydd mewn gwaith gyda chymorth gan y rhaglen.
Lansiwyd Esgyn ym mis Mawrth 2014 ac erbyn hyn mae wedi gweithio gyda 350 o gleientiaid, gan gynnwys helpu 106 o bobl i ddod o i hyd i waith a chefnogi 204 o bobl wrth iddynt hyfforddi.
Mae’r rhaglen a ddarperir gan Gyngor Sir Caerfyrddin yn cynorthwyo unigolion o aelwydydd heb waith yng Nghlwstwr Cymunedau yn Gyntaf Sir Gaerfyrddin i sicrhau cyfleoedd gwaith a hyfforddiant. Mae’r prosiect sy’n cael ei gyllido gan Lywodraeth Cymru yn rhan o Strategaeth Trechu Tlodi Cymru ac mae’n un elfen o bortffolio llawer ehangach o gefnogaeth i raglenni cymorth gwaith cyflogaeth a ddarperir gan y cyngor sir.
Cafodd Paul ei gofrestru gan staff Esgyn trwy waith allgymorth mewn Clwb Swyddi Cymunedau yn Gyntaf ym Mhantyffynon. Mae wedi bod mewn cysylltiad â’r Rhaglen Cymunedau yn Gyntaf ers 2002 ac mae hefyd wedi derbyn cefnogaeth gan y Tîm Cymunedau yn Gyntaf trwy ymgymryd â hyfforddiant a chefnogaeth achrededig mewn Clybiau Cyflogaeth ym Mhantyffynon.
Yn ystod ei sesiwn gofrestru a chynllunio camau gweithredu, nodwyd bod Paul yn dymuno gweithio’n rhan-amser yn gwneud gwaith gweinyddol a chlercio. Esboniodd ei fod yn teimlo ei fod mewn rhigol o ran chwilio am swyddi ac nad oedd yn gwybod sut i fanteisio ar gyfleoedd yn ei ardal leol heb gefnogaeth.
Er bod ganddo nifer o gymwysterau perthnasol, nid oedd ganddo lawer o hyder a phrofiad gwaith sy’n hanfodol i ddychwelyd i waith â thâl. Gyda’i gilydd, penderfynodd Paul a’i fentor y byddai rôl weinyddol wirfoddol yn gam cyntaf doeth. Byddai hynny’n codi ei hyder, dysgu sgiliau newydd iddo a’i helpu i arfer â threfn gwaith.
Clustnodwyd rôl addas yn Hwb Un Sir Gâr yn Llanelli, sy’n darparu gwasanaeth galw heibio un-stop ar gyfer y gymuned. Mae’n darparu gwybodaeth, cefnogaeth ac yn cyfeirio defnyddwyr at ystod eang o wasanaethau megis tai, cymorth cyflogaeth a chyngor budd-daliadau. .
Dywedodd Elliott Boyd, mentor Esgyn: “Tyfodd hyder a phrofiad Paul yn fawr iawn ac roedd ei waith bob amser o safon uchel. O ganlyniad cynyddodd ei hyder wrth chwilio am swyddi.”
Yn dilyn y profiad gwaith hwn cyfeiriwyd Paul at y GIG am ail leoliad yn Ysbyty Dyffryn Aman fel Swyddog Clercol. Roedd y lleoliad yn llwyddiannus iawn ac arhosodd Paul fel gwirfoddolwr yn yr un rôl.
Parhaodd i ymgeisio am waith â thâl yn ardal Sir Gaerfyrddin, gan symud i Gaerfyrddin i fod yn agosach i gyfleoedd gwaith. Ar ôl sawl cyfweliad a chymorth i baratoi gan Raglen Esgyn, llwyddodd Paul o’r diwedd i gael gwaith â thâl yng Nghaerfyrddin fel Mentor Cymheriaid i Fwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda/y GIG.
Dywedodd Paul: “Rwyf wrth fy modd gan fy mod i wedi bod yn anelu at hyn am gymaint o amser.”
Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Cefin Campbell, sef yr Aelod o’r Bwrdd Gweithredol Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin dros Drechu Tlodi: “Mae’r Rhaglen Esgyn yn chwarae rôl werthfawr wrth gefnogi pobl trwy hyfforddiant a’u helpu i gael swydd.
“Rwyf wrth fy modd bod Paul wedi gallu defnyddio’r gefnogaeth gan y Rhaglen Esgyn i adeiladu ei hyder a’i brofiad a mynd ymlaen i ddod o hyd i waith.”
Lifted back into work
Jobseeker Paul Allchurch has found work with the NHS thanks to support from Carmarthenshire’s Lift programme – one of more than 100 people helped into employment.
Lift was launched in March 2014 and to date has worked with 350 clients, including helping 106 into employment and supporting 204 through training.
The programme delivered by Carmarthenshire County Council supports individuals from workless households in the Carmarthenshire Communities First Cluster to secure employment and training opportunities. The Welsh Government funded project is part of the Welsh tackling poverty strategy and is one element of a much wider portfolio of back to employment work support programmes delivered by the county council.
Paul was enrolled by Lift staff through outreach work in a local Communities First job club in Pantyffynnon. He has been engaged with the Communities First Programme since 2002 and has also received support from the Communities First Team through accessing accredited training and support in Employment Clubs in Pantyffynnon.
During his enrolment and action planning session it was identified that Paul aspired to work part time in admin and clerical work. He made it clear that he was feeling stuck in a rut regarding his job searching and didn’t know how to access opportunities in his local area without support.
Although he had several work related qualifications he was lacking confidence and work experience necessary to get back into paid work. Together Paul and his mentor decided that a voluntary admin role would be a good first step. This would raise his confidence, teach him new skills and get him back into a working routine.
A suitable role was identified within the Un Sir Gar Hub in Llanelli which provides one stop drop-in service for the community, providing information, support and sign posting to a wide range of services such as housing, employment support and benefit advice.
Lift mentor Elliott Boyd said: “Paul’s confidence and experience grew immensely and his work was always to a high standard. This increased his confidence in job hunting.”
Following this placement Paul was referred to the NHS for a second placement in Amman Valley hospital as a clerical officer. The placement was extremely successful and Paul remained as a volunteer in the same role.
He continued to apply for paid work in the Carmarthenshire area, moving to Carmarthen to be closer to work opportunities. After several interviews and support with interview prep from the Lift Programme, Paul was finally successful in obtaining paid work in Carmarthen as a Peer Mentor for Hywel Dda University Health Board/NHS.
Paul said ‘’I am so happy, as it is what I have been aiming for for such a long time’.
Cllr Cefin Campbell, who is the Carmarthenshire County Council executive board member with responsibility for tackling poverty, said: “The Lift programme plays a valuable role in supporting people through training and helping them into work.
“I’m delighted that Paul has been able to use the support of the Lift programme to build his confidence and experience and go on to find work.”
