Full steam ahead for Cardigan Integrated Care Centre / Bant â ni ar gyfer Canolfan Gofal Integredig Aberteifi

Plans to develop a brand new fit-for-purpose healthcare service on the old Bathhouse site in Cardigan have been boosted after the health board set out proposed timelines for the scheme.

The full business case for the Cardigan Integrated Care Centre is in the final stages of scrutiny by Welsh Government and formal agreement to the scheme is anticipated in December.  Subject to final approval of the business case, site work is expected to start in April 2018 with an anticipated opening date of late 2019.

As well as providing a modern, fit for purpose healthcare service for the local population, the new centre will bring care closer to home and in the community. A wide range of integrated health and social care services will be delivered by Hywel Dda UHB, the third sector, local authority and partner organisations.

Among the benefits to the local community will be:

• improving how the various health and social care services work together and communicate with each other;
• increasing in the range of clinics provided;
• increasing in the numbers of people attending outpatient clinics;
• potential for an increase in 7 day service provision;
• increased diagnostic services including pre-operative assessments; and
• improved outcomes for patients.

Peter Skitt, Hywel Dda’s County Director for Ceredigion, said: “I’m delighted to be able to confirm that, subject to final Welsh Government approval, we have agreed work on the new Cardigan Integrated Care Centre, to begin early next year, with an anticipated opening date of late 2019.

“Although the planning process has at times been quite protracted and drawn-out, it’s been absolutely crucial for the project in terms of making sure that we’ve got it right first time, and I would just like to thank all of our stakeholders – particularly local residents, patients and our staff – for their patience and understanding.

“We look forward to starting the next stage of the development and will provide further updates as this exciting project comes to fruition.”

Bernardine Rees OBE, Chair of Hywel Dda University Health Board, added: “I recognise that the population of Cardigan has been very patient and this facility has definitely had its challenges, but the health board are now very pleased to be moving forward with this important development.

“We have been doing everything necessary to ensure that we get it right and I would like to pay tribute to everyone involved for their ongoing commitment and hard work to ensure the new centre meets our aim of providing safe, sustainable, integrated care for our local population.”

Mae cynlluniau i ddatblygu gwasanaeth gofal iechyd pwrpasol, newydd sbon ar hen safle’r Bath-house yn Aberteifi wedi cael hwb mawr ar ôl i’r bwrdd iechyd nodi’r amserlenni arfaethedig ar gyfer y cynllun.

Mae’r achos busnes llawn ar gyfer Canolfan Gofal Integredig Aberteifi yng nghamau olaf proses graffu Llywodraeth Cymru, a rhagwelir y bydd y cynllun y cael ei gymeradwyo’n ffurfiol ym mis Rhagfyr. Disgwylir y bydd y gwaith ar y safle yn dechrau ym mis Ebrill, yn amodol ar gymeradwyaeth derfynol o’r achos busnes, a rhagwelir y bydd y ganolfan yn agor ddiwedd 2019.

Yn ogystal â darparu gwasanaeth gofal iechyd pwrpasol, modern ar gyfer y boblogaeth leol, bydd y ganolfan newydd yn dod â gofal yn agosach at y cartref a’r gymuned. Bydd amrywiaeth eang o wasanaethau iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol integredig yn cael eu darparu gan Fwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda, y trydydd sector, yr awdurdod lleol, a sefydliadau partner.

Bydd y manteision i’r gymuned leol yn cynnwys:

• gwella’r ffordd y mae’r amrywiol wasanaethau iechyd a gofal cymdeithasol yn cydweithio ac yn cyfathrebu â’i gilydd;
• cynyddu’r amrywiaeth o glinigau a ddarperir;
• cynyddu nifer y bobl sy’n mynd i glinigau cleifion allanol;
• y potensial i gynyddu darpariaeth gwasanaeth saith niwrnod;
• cynnydd yn y gwasanaethau diagnostig, yn cynnwys asesiadau cyn llawdriniaeth; a
• gwell canlyniadau i gleifion.

Dywedodd Peter Skitt, Cyfarwyddwr Sir Hywel Dda ar gyfer Ceredigion: “Rwy’n falch iawn fy mod yn gallu cadarnhau ein bod wedi cytuno ar y gwaith ar Ganolfan Gofal Integredig newydd Aberteifi, sydd i ddechrau yn gynnar y flwyddyn nesaf, a hynny yn amodol ar gymeradwyaeth Llywodraeth Cymru. Rhagwelir y bydd y ganolfan yn agor ddiwedd 2019.

“Er bod y broses gynllunio wedi bod yn un hirfaith ar adegau, mae wedi bod yn broses hanfodol ar gyfer y prosiect o ran sicrhau ein bod yn gwneud pethau’n iawn y tro cyntaf, a hoffwn ddiolch i’n holl randdeiliaid – yn enwedig y trigolion lleol, y cleifion a’n staff – am eu hamynedd a’u dealltwriaeth.

“Edrychwn ymlaen at ddechrau cam nesaf y datblygiad, a byddwn yn rhoi diweddariadau pellach wrth i’r prosiect cyffrous hwn ddwyn ffrwyth.”
