Neath Food and Drink Festival a great success, despite the wet weather
The three day Neath Food and Drink festival, held last September in Neath’s historic town centre proved to be a great success and attracted over 56,000 visitors. The highest ever number of food and drink producers were also attracted to this year’s festival.
This year saw a number of favouritestall holders returning, such as Aerona Liqueurs, the Chocolate Brownie Company, Bryn Farm Barbeque and a whole host of other delicious food and drink stalls. The festival also welcomed a number of new stalls, such as Frankie Loves Frills, a locally established cakes and cupcake business.
The festival also gave local restaurants, cafes, and pubs the opportunity to showcase what they had to offer during the three day event. A full programme of entertainment and live bands was hosted throughout the weekend by Castle Hotel, Moruzzi and Co, Treats of Old Market Street and Charlies Champagne Bar and Grill.
The festival was established as part of a strategy to promote the town centre and assists in developing Neath as a place to visit. The event also contributes to the growth of the visitor economy across the whole Neath Port Talbot by extending the tourism season into the autumn months.
The festival has become an established and high profile event in the town’s calendar. The festival has seen consecutive growth each year for the past nine years, expanding from a one day festival at its inception to a three day festival.
Social media promoting the event also reached an all-time high, with over 17,000 people viewing the tantalising promo videoenticing people to come to the three day festival. The social media campaign helped to raise the profile of the fantastic festival and in attracting the impressive 56,000 footfall to the event.
Councillor Annette Wingrave, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Sustainable Development said:“I am absolutely delighted with the success of the food and drink festival. It is great to see the festival growing and attracting more and more food and drink producers every year.
“I would like to thank this year’s food and drink producers, partners and supporters. Without them, we would not have had the offering we did.
“I would also like to extend my appreciation to the local businesses, residents and visitors who all came to support the Neath Food and Drink Festival, despite the rainy weather”.
