ENILLWYR GWOBRAU DYSGWR DIWYDIANNAU’R TIR Y FLWYDDYN: LANTRA 2017

(CATEGORI CYSWLLT FFERMIO) YN CAEL EU CYHOEDDI GAN YSGRIFENNYDD Y CABINET YN Y FFAIR AEAF

‘Cynllunio ar gyfer y dyfodol a dal ati i ddysgu’ yw arwyddair dwy wraig sy’n ffermio yng Ngogledd Cymru sydd wedi ymrwymo i’w datblygiad personol eu hunain. Mae wedi profi’n athrawiaeth lwyddiannus y mae’r ddwy’n ei gweithredu yn eu busnesau fferm.

Mae Iorwen Jones, enillydd ‘Dros 40’ Cyswllt Ffermio Lantra eleni, yn helpu ei gŵr Eifion i redeg eu fferm bîff a defaid, Fferm Ysgeibion ger Rhuthun.

Cheryl Reeves, sy’n fio-gemegydd ac yn cadw gwartheg gyda’i gŵr Andrew ger Bangor Is-coed, enillodd Gwobr ‘Dan 40’ Cyswllt Ffermio Lantra.

Cyflwynwyd y tystysgrifau i enillwyr teilwng gwobrau Dysgwr Diwydiannau’r Tir y Flwyddyn Lantra gan Lesley Griffiths AC, Ysgrifennydd Cabinet dros Ynni, Cynllunio a Materion Gwledig mewn seremoni arbennig a gynhaliwyd heddiw (DYDD LLUN, 27 TACHWEDD) yn Ffair Aeaf Frenhinol Cymru yn Llanelwedd.

Estynnodd Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet ei llongyfarchiadau i holl enillwyr Lantra am eu gwaith arbennig gan ddweud ei bod wedi ei chalonogi’n arbennig gan y ffaith bod nifer o ffermwyr bellach yn ystyried bod gwella eu sgiliau rheoli busnes ac ariannol lawn mor bwysig â dysgu sgiliau technegol ac ymarferol newydd.

“Mae nifer o ffermwyr yn gweithio’n galed ar y tir ac i gynnal eu stoc, ond heb arferion busnes cadarn, fydd eich busnes yn dal ddim yn cyrraedd ei botensial.

“Yn ystod y deuddeg mis diwethaf, mae Lantra wedi gweld cynnydd sylweddol yn nifer y ceisiadau ar gyfer datblygu busnes sy’n argoeli’n dda ar gyfer hyfywedd a chadernid busnesau fferm yng Nghymru yn y dyfodol, wrth iddynt baratoi ar gyfer y cyfleoedd a’r heriau wrth adael yr UE,” meddai’r Ysgrifennydd Cabinet.

Mae Iorwen a Cheryl yn ceisio ymdopi â gofynion helpu o ddydd i ddydd ar y fferm â’u gyrfaoedd eu hunain a bywyd teuluol, ond maent yn cytuno bod cwblhau cyrsiau Lantra ar bynciau busnes yn cynnwys cynllunio busnes, marchnata a datblygu, cofnodi ariannol a TAW wedi trawsnewid y ffordd y maent yn delio â’r holl waith papur heriol sy’n mynd law yn llaw â rhedeg busnes fferm llwyddiannus.

Enwebwyd y ddwy ar gyfer y gwobrau gan Julie Thomas, cyfarwyddwraig ‘Simply the Best Training Consultancy’, y cwmni hyfforddi a gymeradwywyd gan Cyswllt Ffermio a ddarparodd yr holl hyfforddiant busnes.

GETTING TO GRIPS WITH FARM BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND FINANCES PAYS DIVIDENDS!

WINNERS OF LANTRA’S LAND-BASED LEARNER OF THE YEAR AWARDS 2017 (FARMING CONNECT CATEGORY) ANNOUNCED BY CABINET SECRETARY AT THE WINTER FAIR

‘Plan for the future and never stop learning’ are the watchwords of two busy female farmers from North Wales who are committed to their own personal development. It has proved an award-winning doctrine which both are putting to good use in their respective family farm businesses.

Iorwen Jones, this year’s winner of Lantra’s Farming Connect ‘Over 40’ award, helps her husband Eifion run their beef and sheep holding, Ysgeibion Farm near Ruthin.

Bio-chemist Cheryl Reeves, who farms a beef enterprise with her husband Andrew near Bangor on Dee, won Lantra’s Farming Connect ‘Under 40’ award.

The two worthy winners of this year’s prestigious Lantra Land-based Learner of the Year Award were presented with their winner’s certificates by Lesley Griffiths, Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Planning and Rural Affairs at a special ceremony held today (MONDAY, 27 NOVEMBER) at the Royal Welsh Winter Fair in Llanelwedd.

The Cabinet Secretary congratulated all Lantra winners on their outstanding achievements saying she was particularly encouraged that many farmers now consider increasing their business management and financial skills as important as gaining new technical and practical skills.

“Many farmers put a huge amount of effort into their land and stock, but without sound business practices in place, your business will still not reach its potential.

“In the last twelve months, Lantra has seen a significant increase in the number of applications for business development courses which augurs well for the future viability and resilience of farm businesses in Wales, as they prepare for the opportunities and challenges of exiting the EU,” said the Cabinet Secretary.

Both Iorwen and Cheryl juggle the demands of helping out with day to day farming activities with off-farm careers and family life, but they agree that attending Lantra courses on business topics including business planning, marketing and development, financial recording and VAT has transformed the way in which they tackle the challenging volume of paperwork which goes hand in hand with running a successful farm business.

Both women were nominated for the awards by Julie Thomas, director of Simply the Best Training Consultancy, the approved Farming Connect training company which provided all their business training.
