Secondary school admissions – deadline Friday
THREE hundred parents have still not applied for their child’s secondary school place in Carmarthenshire with just days left to do so.
Deadline for applications is Friday, December 22, for pupils due to start in secondary school next year.
Approximately 2,000 pupils in Carmarthenshire are transferring to secondary school next September.
Around 1,700 parents have already applied for their child’s place, however applications still need to be made for the remaining 300 children by Friday.
There is no automatic transfer, applications must be made online to the county council by December 22 and parents will be informed of the outcome on March 1.
Parents who have not already done so are now being urged to complete the online application form as soon as possible.
Applications can be made at www.carmarthenshire.gov.wales/schooladmissions
Applications can also be made on a phone or tablet, or for those without internet access they can contact their local school who will be happy to assist, or visit their local library to use the computers available there.
Education executive board member Cllr Glynog Davies said: “There are just days left to the deadline but unfortunately there are still about 300 children whose parents or guardians have not yet applied for their places.
“It is vital that they do so, applications must be made online by Friday, if not the wishes of the family cannot be taken into consideration when places are allocated.”
