Making sure Margam’s Animals don’t miss out on Christmas Dinner

Christmas Day will be a working day like any other for Margam Park’s Staff, who will be out whatever weather ensuring the animals are fed and watered.

Christmas Day is the only day of the year when the park is closed to the public, however things will not come to a halt. All of the animals need to be fed, from donkeys and Shetland ponies to sheep and cows to the park’s unique herd of deer.

Water can often freeze over and food is needed to ensure that the animals stay healthy and warm, so it is important that the staff head out and tend to the farm trail.

In the run up to Christmas the parks herd of Fallow, Red and Pere David Deer will be fed by Father Christmas, with members of the public able to look on from the historic front lawns of MargamCastle. This is a chance to come close to one of nature’s most spectacular wild animals, as they venture close to the castle walls in search of a tasty treat.

The Deer feeds will take place on December 20th,21st, and 22nd. The Deer feeds start at 11am. Tickets are priced at £15 for cars. For access to the disabled parking facilities, please arrive at the park before 10.30am.

Entrance to the Deer Feeds is by ticket, which must be purchased in advance none are for sale on the day. Tickets can be purchased from http://www.margamcountrypark.co.uk/or phone Margam Country Park on 01639 881635.

Mae anifeiliaid Margam yn cael cinio Nadolig hefyd!

Bydd Dydd Nadolig yn ddiwrnod o waith arferol i staff Parc Margam a byddant allan, boed law neu hindda, i sicrhau y caiff yr anifeiliaid fwyd a dŵr.

Dydd Nadolig yw’r unig ddydd y mae’r parc ar gau i’r cyhoedd. Fodd bynnag, ni fydd pethau’n sefyll yn stond. Mae angen bwydo’r holl anifeiliaid, o’r asynnod a’r merlod Shetland i’r defaid a’r gwartheg i’r haid unigryw o geirw sy’n byw yn y parc.

Gall dŵr rewi’n aml ac mae angen bwyd er mwyn sicrhau bod yr anifeiliaid yn cadw’n iach ac yn gynnes, felly mae’n bwysig i’r staff fynd ati i ofalu am lwybr y fferm.

Cyn y Nadolig, caiff yr haid o geirw hydd brith, ceirw coch a cheirw Père David y parc eu bwydo gan Siôn Corn, a gall aelodau’r cyhoedd wylio o lawntydd blaen Castell hanesyddol Margam. Dyma gyfle i weld un o anifeiliaid mwyaf trawiadol byd natur yn agos wrth iddynt fentro’n agos i waliau’r castell yn chwilio am drît blasus.

Cynhelir sesiynau bwydo’r ceirw ar 20, 21 a 22 Rhagfyr. Mae’r sesiynau’n dechrau am 11am. Mae tocynnau’n £15 am geir. I gael mynediad i’r cyfleusterau parcio i’r anabl, dylech gyrraedd y parc cyn 10.30am.

Mae angen tocyn i gael mynediad i sesiynau bwydo’r ceirw a rhaid eu prynu ymlaen llaw oherwydd ni chânt eu gwerthu ar y dydd. Gellir prynu tocynnau o http://www.margamcountrypark.co.uk/ neu ffoniwch Barc Gwledig Margam ar 01639 881635.
