Wales Rugby League are pleased to announce an exciting new concept to its competition structure for the 2018 season with the introduction of the âFour Game Leagueâ.
The season would consist of four games throughout June and July, with an emphasis on enjoyment and participation and is designed for those who do not want the pressures of the full structured league competition.
This structure is ideal for new clubs looking to test the water before entering the main competition or those purely looking for a social rugby league fix.
The Four Game League is open to all from minis to masters, male and female whether in North, East, South, West or Mid Wales.
Interested parties have until 1st May 2018 to register their new club and team and then ask their friends to register themselves as players online to that team. The fixtures will then be published in early May and the games would begin in the first weekend of June; teams fitting four games into a six week period.
All the results, photos and match reports would go up on line however the whole vibe will be centred around the social and game aspect rather than it being a competition. There will be no league tables however any team that goes four games unbeaten will be given medals as a memento.
Acting National Development Manager Rob Davies said: âWhilst we will be delighted if thousands of new people just play four games of rugby league each year, we envisage there will be pockets of people who after a few years of playing in the âFour Game Leagueâ would like to take the step up in competition and join the next level which play twelve or more fixtures a season.
âThe Four Game League is a simple concept to counter against all the time and financial constraints in peopleâs lives at this moment. We hope it will be a huge success and be a real game changer in our participation numbers.â
The application process is simple and support is available throughout.
Teams need can register an interest now by emailing Rob.Davies@WalesRugbyLeague.co.uk before needing to register their team colours and 15 players ASAP. Teams will be confirmed on 1st May 2018 before the fixtures are released the week after.
