Manager Bob Jeffrey is calling on the support of the town and the South Wales football fraternity this week to rally round and show their support of the club in their key Welsh Premier League fixture against Aberystwyth Town this friday (30th November) kick off at 7.30pm at Stebonheath Park.
Manager Bob Jeffrey is looking forward to the game on Friday saying “We have dropped admission prices for the game, with free entry for children and it would be great to see a large crowd at Stebonheath Park. It will give our players a great boost and we aim to provide an entertaining evening for all.”
“The boys were fantastic on Saturday and showed a great attitude. We had chances to win the game and can be disappointed not to have taken all three points, but given our injury and suspension situation, it was a point won in difficult conditions. It keeps us in contention to battle for a top six finish at the split, as we remain five points away from sixth place Connah’s Quay.”
“We are two points behind Aberystwyth in the table, they will fancy their chances after scoring seven goals in their last two games, but we have a good record against them and won 2-0 earlier this season at Park Avenue.”
The game will provide an added spice to fans with the presence of ex-Reds trio Wyn Thomas, Stuart Jones and Jordan Follows in the Aberystwyth team, all immensely popular players during their time at Stebonheath. While the Reds hope to have ex-Aberystwyth stalwart Geoff Kellaway back in the squad following injury.
Bob added “This week’s game has all the ingredients to be a cracking spectacle, with ex-players of both teams facing each other for the first time. Jordan Follows came through my Youth team at Stebonheath and is in an excellent run of form at present, while Stuart Jones has been an icon at this club over the last eight years.”
“Then there’s Wyn Thomas, a local boy who was a crowd favourite at Stebonheath and gave his all for the club, while we have Geoff Kellaway in our side, who has spent most of his career at Aberystwyth and will face them for the first time on Friday.”
