Preferred developer appointed for major regeneration project at Aberavon Seafront/Datblygwr dewisol wedi’i benodi ar gyfer prosiect adfywio sylweddol ar Lan Môr Aberafan

Neath Port Talbot Council has appointed Hale Construction Ltd to develop a mixed-use development at the old Afan Lido site, along Aberavon Seafront in Port Talbot.  The development will consist of 150 residential units and additional new retail space. The ambitious scheme will commence in early 2019.

The physical environment of Aberavon Seafront has been transformed over the last decade and the Council’s aspiration continues to be the further enhancement of the area as both a visitor destination and a vibrant and attractive place to live, work and play.

Over the last few years over £22million has been invested in the infrastructure and facilities on the seafront and promenade, much of which has been sourced by the Council’s Regeneration team from external funding, including the Big Lottery and the Green Seas Programme.

These improvements have truly transformed the attractiveness of the seafront and contributed to its increased popularity for visitors and local users. The commercial investments include Remo’s Ice Cream Parlour and Restaurant, Cinnamon Kitchen, Gelato Gatti Ice Cream Kiosk, Burger King Restaurant, Franco’s Fish and Chip Restaurant, the Four Winds and Bar Galois.

Other improvements include new public toilets, railings, seating, lighting and signage, as well as two new children’s play areas, a skateboard park and the re-designed sunken gardens.  Coastal defence works have also been carried out at the western end of the promenade.

The new Pirate Cove Adventure Golf Course and the Bay View private housing estate with views across the Swansea Bay are the most recent developments.

In January 2015, the iconic beachfront Leisure and Fitness Centre opened. Since opening, the venue has been incredibly popular amongst residents of Neath Port Talbot and visitors alike. With such a wide variety of activities to choose from, people of all interests have utilised the venue.

As a result of all these regeneration developments, Aberavon Seafront has seen a buzz of activity over the last few years and has proved to be a popular all season destination whatever the weather.

To accommodate the increasing number of visitors to the area, there have also been further improvements in parking provision at the seafront with a new 111 space car parks at Scarlet Avenue.

Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Sustainable Development, Councillor Annette Wingrave said: “By investing in our seafront we are not only enhancing the visitor experience but creating the right environment for private sector opportunities, all of which helps to make Aberavon Seafront a wonderful destination for a family day out and a great place to live”.

Following the resounding success of Hale homes Ltd Bay View development on Aberavon Seafront, public interest is already rising in the dwellings to be provided on the site of the old Afan Lido.

Mae Cyngor Castell-nedd Port Talbot wedi penodi Hale Construction Ltd i adeiladu datblygiad defnydd cymysg ar hen safle Lido Afan, sydd ar hyd Glan Môr Aberafan, Port Talbot. Bydd y datblygiad yn cynnwys 150 o unedau preswyl a lle manwerthu ychwanegol newydd. Bydd y cynllun uchelgeisiol yn dechrau’n gynnar yn 2019.

Trawsnewidiwyd amgylchedd ffisegol Glan Môr Aberafan dros y degawd diwethaf, a dyhead y cyngor o hyd yw parhau i wella’r ardal fel cyrchfan i ymwelwyr a lle bywiog a deniadol i fyw, gweithio a chwarae ynddo.

Dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf, mae dros £22m wedi cael ei fuddsoddi yn yr isadeiledd a’r cyfleusterau ar lan y môr ac ar y promenâd. Cafwyd gafael ar y rhan fwyaf o’r buddsoddiad hwn gan Dîm Adfywio’r cyngor drwy gyllid allanol, gan gynnwys y Loteri Fawr a’r Rhaglen Môr Glas.

Mae’r gwelliannau hyn yn sicr wedi trawsnewid apêl glan y môr ac wedi cyfrannu at boblogrwydd cynyddol y lleoliad i ymwelwyr a defnyddwyr lleol. Mae’r buddsoddiadau masnachol yn cynnwys parlwr hufen iâ a bwyty Remo’s, Cinnamon Kitchen, caban hufen iâ Gelato Gatti, bwyty Burger King, siop bysgod a sglodion Franco’s, The Four Winds a Bar Galois.

Mae gwelliannau eraill yn cynnwys toiledau cyhoeddus, rheiliau, seddi, goleuadau ac arwyddion newydd, yn ogystal â dwy ardal chwarae newydd i blant, parc sglefrio a’r gerddi suddedig wedi’u hailddylunio.  Gwnaed gwaith i amddiffyn yr arfordir hefyd ar ben gorllewinol y promenâd.

Mae’r datblygiadau diweddaraf yn cynnwys Cwrs Golff Antur Pirate Cove ac ystâd dai breifat Bay View, gyda golygfeydd ar draws Bae Abertawe.

Ym mis Ionawr 2015, agorodd y Ganolfan Hamdden a Ffitrwydd glan môr eiconig. Ers agor, mae’r lleoliad wedi bod yn hynod boblogaidd ymhlith preswylwyr Castell-nedd Port Talbot ac ymwelwyr. Gydag amrywiaeth eang o weithgareddau i ddewis ohonynt, mae pobl â phob math o ddiddordebau wedi defnyddio’r lleoliad.

O ganlyniad i’r holl ddatblygiadau adfywio hyn, mae Glan Môr Aberafan wedi bod yn brysur iawn dros yr ychydig flynyddoedd diwethaf, ac mae wedi bod yn gyrchfan poblogaidd drwy gydol y flwyddyn, beth bynnag fo’r tywydd.

Er mwyn darparu ar gyfer y nifer cynyddol o ymwelwyr â’r ardal, gwnaed gwelliannau pellach i’r cyfleusterau parcio ar lan y môr gyda maes parcio newydd â lle i 111 o geir yn Rhodfa Scarlet.

Meddai’r Cynghorydd Annette Wingrave, Aelod y Cabinet dros Adfywio a Datblygu Cynaliadwy, “Trwy fuddsoddi yng nglan ein môr, nid ydym yn gwella’r profiad i ymwelwyr yn unig, ond rydym hefyd yn creu’r amgylchedd iawn ar gyfer cynnig cyfleoedd trydydd sector, ac mae’r cyfan yn helpu i wneud Glan Môr Aberfan yn gyrchfan gwych ar gyfer diwrnod i’r teulu ac yn lle gwych i fyw ynddo.”

Meddai David Harrhy, Cyfarwyddwyr Rheoli Grŵp J G Hale, “Mae’r grŵp yn gyffrous gyda’r syniad o weithio ar y cyd â chyngor Castell-nedd Port Talbot unwaith eto i ddarparu llety o safon yn yr ardal.

“Yn sgîl llwyddiant aruthrol datblygiad Bay View ar Lan Môr Aberafan, a gwblhawyd gan Hale Homes Ltd, mae diddordeb y cyhoedd eisoes yn cynyddu mewn perthynas â’r anheddau a fydd yn cael eu darparu ar hen safle Lido Afan.
