Several patients are currently experiencing symptoms associated with Gastroenteritis at Ward 1, Prince Philip Hospital, which has been temporarily closed to visitors as a result.

Infection control measures are in place on the ward to reduce the risk of infection and visitors are requested not to visit patients at this time.

Sharon Daniel, Assistant Director of Nursing (Infection Prevention & Control) in Hywel Dda University Health Board said: “Illnesses such as diarrhoea and vomiting can pass from one person to another very easily and we have been informed that Gastroenteritis is also circulating in the community.

“I would urge people who are feeling unwell or have been in contact with someone who has these symptoms NOT to visit patients in hospital at this time as viruses can be serious for sick and vulnerable patients.”

Symptoms of Gastroenteritis include nausea (feeling queasy) diarrhoea and vomiting. If you are experiencing these symptoms it is important to wash and dry your hands thoroughly after going to the toilet and before you handle food to prevent it being passed on to others.

Ar hyn o bryd, mae nifer o gleifion yn profi symptomau sy’n gysylltiedig â Gastroenteritis ar Ward 1, Ysbyty Tywysog Philip, ac o ganlyniad i hyn mae’r Ward ar gau dros dro i ymwelwyr.

Mae mesurau rheoli haint ar waith i leihau’r risg o haint, a gofynnwn i ymwelwyr gadw draw am nawr.

Dywed Sharon Daniel, Dirprwy Gyfarwyddwr Nyrsio (Atal a Rheoli Heintiaul) ym Mwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda: “Mae salwch megis dolur rhydd a chwydu yn gallu pasio o un person i’r llall yn hawdd iawn ac rydym wedi cael gwybod bod Gastroenteritis hefyd ar led yn y gymuned.

“Rwyf yn annog pobl sy’n teimlo’n sâl neu sydd wedi bod mewn cysylltiad â rhywun sydd â’r symptomau hyn i BEIDIO ag ymweld â chleifion mewn ysbyty ar hyn o bryd am fod firysau’n medru bod yn ddifrifol i gleifion sâl a bregus.”

Mae symptomau Gastroenteritis yn cynnwys cyfog, dolur rhydd a chwydu. Os ydych yn profi’r symptomau hyn mae’n bwysig eich bod yn golchi a sychu eich dwylo’n drwyadl ar ôl bod i’r tŷ bach a chyn trin bwyd er mwyn atal ei basio ymlaen i eraill.
