Wales Wheelchair have released their squad that will compete in the Celtic Cup on Saturday 28th April at Deeside Leisure Centre in Queensferry (10.30am start).

There are two debutants for the three-game day-long tournament with North Wales Crusaders duo Lucie Roberts and Stephen Halsey in line for their first international caps.

The Celtic Cup is being hosted by Wales for the first time and the hosts will take to the court first as they face Scotland. Ireland v Scotland is next before Wales v Ireland concludes the day.

As well as being hosts, Wales go into the Celtic Cup as holders having won the trophy for the last two years.

Wales head coach Steve Jones said: “Wales have a very strong squad this year and we feel that we have every chance of winning the Celtic Cup for the third year.

“We have balanced experience with two players making their debut in Lucie Roberts and Stephen Halsey. Despite them being fairly new to the sport, they have both shown a natural gift for playing and a strong ability to read the game.

“Add these players to the likes of the seasoned veterans Alan Caron who has 24 caps and Andrew Higgins and Harry Jones who are both on 21 caps with the rest of the squad having 70 caps between them, it will give the two new players a lot of experience to call on.

“Using a seasoned player such as Stuart Williams as captain and adding Geraint Price in as vice-captain will bring the team a wealth of leadership ability.

“Also by adding Lyndon Price to the current coaching team has brought a wealth of experience to the already experienced coaching team, there is a great buzz in the team.”

The Celtic Cup is being played at Deeside Leisure Centre, Chester Rd West, Queensferry, CH5 1SA on Saturday 28th April from 10.30am. Entry is free of charge for spectators.

WALES SQUAD: Alan Caron, Andrew Higgins, Jason Owens, Geraint Price (vice-captain), Gary Priece (all Hereford Harriers), John Doyle, Stephen Halsey, Harry Jones, Lucie Roberts, Gary Taylor, Stuart Williams (capt) (all North Wales Crusaders)
