Events Support Fund launched

THE next round of a funding scheme for events has been launched by Carmarthenshire County Council.

Funding is open to those who currently organise or who wish to organise events, and could offer a maximum of £5,000 – at up to half of the total cost – where the event will make an impact on the economic development of Carmarthenshire.

Communication support can also be offered.

The fund is part of the council’s events support strategy which offers a range of activities to help organisers and boost events in the county.

Events that enhance certain strategic objectives such as the county cycling strategy, town and village of culture events and the Visit Wales Year of the Sea are encouraged to apply.

Last year, the fund supported 16 events across Carmarthenshire, bringing an impact of around £1.17million to the local economy.

Matt Page of A Cycling, who organises the annual “Battle on the Beach” Cycling event at Pembrey Country Park was one of the beneficiaries.

“Battle On the Beach draws competitors to Carmarthenshire from across the UK and Ireland as well as parts of Europe” said Matt.

“The fund enabled us to bring some additional activities to the event to improve visitor experience as well as to commission professional drone footage that we can use to promote the event more widely and professionally going forward.”

Executive board member for culture, sport and tourism, Cllr Peter Hughes Griffiths, said: “We recognise the importance of events in supporting our communities and towns, the contribution they can make to the local economy and how they attract visitors to Carmarthenshire.

“This fund is just one way we are supporting events in our county which have the most potential to meet our objectives.

“We would urge those interested who meet the criteria to apply”

Lansiad Gronfa Cymorth Digwyddiadau

MAE Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin wedi lansio rownd nesaf y cynllun ariannu ar gyfer digwyddiadau.

Mae’r cyllid ar gael i’r rheiny sydd ar hyn o bryd yn trefnu digwyddiadau neu sy’n dymuno gwneud hynny, a gallai gynnig hyd at £5,000 – sydd hyd at hanner cyfanswm y gost – lle bydd y digwyddiad yn cael effaith ar ddatblygiad economaidd Sir Gaerfyrddin.

Gall y cynllun gynnig cymorth gyda materion cyfathrebu hefyd.

Mae’r gronfa yn rhan o strategaeth cefnogi digwyddiadau’r Cyngor sy’n cynnig amrywiaeth o weithgareddau i helpu trefnwyr a rhoi hwb i ddigwyddiadau yn y sir.

Anogir digwyddiadau sy’n gwella amcanion strategol penodol megis strategaeth beicio’r sir, digwyddiadau tref a phentref diwylliant ac ymgyrch Blwyddyn y Môr Croeso Cymru, i wneud cais.

Y llynedd, cefnogodd y gronfa 16 o ddigwyddiadau ledled Sir Gaerfyrddin, gan gyfrannu oddeutu £1.17 miliwn at yr economi leol.

Matt Page o A Cycling, sy’n trefnu digwyddiad beicio blynyddol “Battle on the Beach” ym Mharc Gwledig Pen-bre, oedd un o’r buddiolwyr.

“Mae Battle on the Beach yn denu cystadleuwyr i Sir Gaerfyrddin o ledled y DU ac Iwerddon, yn ogystal â rhannau o Ewrop” meddai Matt.

“Roedd y gronfa wedi ein galluogi i gynnal gweithgareddau ychwanegol yn y digwyddiad i wella profiad yr ymwelwyr, yn ogystal â threfnu i dynnu lluniau proffesiynol gyda chamera drôn y gallwn eu defnyddio i hyrwyddo’r digwyddiad yn ehangach ac yn fwy proffesiynol yn y dyfodol.”

Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Peter Hughes Griffiths, yr Aelod o’r Bwrdd Gweithredol dros Ddiwylliant, Chwaraeon a Thwristiaeth:“Rydym yn cydnabod pwysigrwydd digwyddiadau o ran cefnogi ein cymunedau a’n trefi, y cyfraniad y gallant ei wneud i’r economi lleol a’r modd y maent yn denu ymwelwyr i Sir Gaerfyrddin.

“Mae’r gronfa hon ond un o’r ffyrdd yr ydym yn cefnogi digwyddiadau yn ein sir sydd â’r mwyaf o botensial i gyflawni ein hamcanion.

“Rydym yn annog y rheini sydd â diddordeb ac sy’n bodloni’r meini prawf i wneud cais”.
