Re: Dementia Action Week, 21-27 May 2018.
Being there for people with dementia
It is estimated that 225,000 people will develop dementia this year alone. That’s one person every three minutes. As this month we mark Dementia Action Week, I’d like to take a moment to tell your readers about the ways that we provide support to people living with dementia and their loved ones across the UK.
We understand that being diagnosed with a life-changing condition like dementia is often incredibly overwhelming and can leave couples and families feeling unsure of where to turn when they are in need of support. That’s why, I’d like to reassure your readers that they need not face things alone, we are here to help.
I work for Revitalise – an incredible national charity that provides respite holidays for disabled people and carers. We are also proud to be the UK’s leading experts in providing holidays for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia through our specially tailored breaks.
We appreciate that a change in routine and scenery can feel especially daunting for someone living with dementia. That’s why we’ve taken a great deal of care and consideration to ensure that every aspect of our Alzheimer’s holidays are designed with our guests in mind, enabling carers and their loved ones to spend quality time together once more, and to have the chance of a proper break.
