Council officers working to identify fly mystery

Council officers are pulling out all the stops to uncover the source of a fly problem in parts of Llanelli.

They have been working around the clock with outside organisations to try to identify the cause in and around the Llanelli area, following calls from the public.

Currently there are no works being carried out to the town’s sewerage system, with Dŵr Cymru’s on-going Rainscape investment work only focussing on the surface water system.

Environmental health officers will continue to monitor the area.

The council’s executive board member for public protection, Cllr Philip Hughes, said: “Working closely with a number of partner organisations, our officers are doing all they can to try to locate the source of the problem. This work is on-going.

“Having visited Dŵr Cymru’s RainScape site, our officers are satisfied that fly problem is not related to this work. Please be assured we are doing everything we can and will continue to monitor the area.”

If you have specific information that might help the council with its enquiries, please send details to publicprotection@carmarthenshire.gov.uk

Swyddogion Cyngor yn ceisio canfod dirgelwch y clêr

Mae swyddogion y Cyngor yn gwneud eu gorau glas i ddod o hyd i’r hyn sydd wedi achosi problem yn ymwneud â chlêr yn rhai ardaloedd yn Llanelli.

Maent wedi bod yn gweithio rownd y cloc gyda sefydliadau allanol er mwyn ceisio canfod achos y broblem yn ardal Llanelli ac o amgylch, yn dilyn galwadau ffôn gan aelodau o’r cyhoedd.

Ar hyn o bryd, nid oes unrhyw waith yn cael ei wneud ar system garthffosiaeth y dref ac mae buddsoddiad parhaus prosiect GlawLif Dŵr Cymru dim ond yn canolbwyntio ar y system dŵr wyneb.

Bydd swyddogion Iechyd yr Amgylchedd yn parhau i fonitro’r ardal.

Dywedodd y Cynghorydd Philip Hughes, yr Aelod o Fwrdd Gweithredol y Cyngor dros Ddiogelu’r Cyhoedd: “Trwy gydweithio’n agos â nifer o sefydliadau sy’n bartneriaid, mae ein swyddogion yn gwneud popeth posibl i geisio dod o hyd i’r hyn sy’n achosi’r broblem. Mae’r gwaith yn parhau.

“Ar ôl ymweld â safle GlawLif Dŵr Cymru, mae ein swyddogion yn fodlon nad yw’r broblem clêr yn gysylltiedig â’r gwaith hwn. Gallwn eich sicrhau ein bod ni’n gwneud ein gorau a byddwn yn parhau i fonitro’r ardal.”
