Live music at The Masons Arms Friday 1st February 2013 With Turtle Promotions

Three bands played to a packed out Masons Arms and a vibrant crowd first on was:

This was the first time I have seen this four piece female fronted band . The band’s sound has elements of funk, ska and jazz mixed in with bursts of rock set off by a good rhythm section and fronted by good vocals that in small parts reminded me of the vocalist Skin from Skunk Anansie.

The band got the crowd going with their upbeat songs and I especially liked the vocalists unique stage moves and little ska dances. Go check out their facebook page to know more or to buy their album.

The Ecko continued what By-Poxy started and got the crowd going and they got many cheers from the crowd. On their face book page the Ecko report some of their influences to be The Who, Black Keys, The Beatles and The Moons , which they say they use to form their own brand of Rock.

Their music is instantly likeable and melodic proving why they came second place in the Llanelli Battle of the Bands 2012 competition. To hear their music check out their facebook page and keep an eye out for their next gig lined up in the Kazbar during February.

Carbon got themselves loads of claps and cheers from the already warmed up crowd and they rocked the Masons playing some original songs and some covers including a Foo Fighters song which went down well.

One original song, vocals aside, sounded like a cross between a Blink 182 and a Simple Plan song which was really good but can’t be taken as an indicator of Carbon’s sound as a whole as they sound more rocky than pop punk and appear to mix a combination of old and new rock and pop punk influences together to get their great sound .
