Dear all,
Â
Please find our response to the piece in the FT –
http://www.ft.com/content/c6454bac-64c1-11e8-90c2-9563a0613e56 – stating that the UK Government will not give the go ahead to the Tigal Lagoon.
Â
Labour Leader, Cllr Rob James, stated âIt is extremely disappointing that, once again, the Conservative Government is reneging on their promises to the people of Wales.
Â
âThe Welsh Labour Government has already committed more than ÂŁ200m in financial support to ensure that South West Wales is home to the worldâs first tidal lagoon. It is essential that we utilise our natural resources to produce green energy and move towards energy independence. Local authorities can play an important role in delivering this aspiration and with the UK Government failing to support investment in the region, we must consider what action needs to be taken going forward.
Â
‘I sincerely hope that the Welsh Government, in collaboration with Carmarthenshire Council and its neighbouring authorities, can find a way to deliver this vital project.â
Â
Should you wish to discuss the matter further, please feel free to contact me.
Â
Kind Regards,
Â
CLLR ROB JAMES
Leader of the Labour Group
Carmarthenshire County Council
