AM To Highlight Concern on Road Fatalities

Aberconwy AM Janet Finch-Saunders has expressed her concern at the number of fatal road incidents on North Wales roads.

In May and April, seven people were killed on the roads in North Wales in just two weeks. Following another fatality this week, Janet said:

“These tragic incidents are absolutely devastating for the families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives.

“The Welsh Government must seek to promote far greater awareness of the dangers and risks of driving – particularly in our more rural areas, where people may pay less heed to the speed limit if the road seems to be empty.

“Whilst the latest available figures for fatalities on Welsh roads do indicate a slight decrease from 2016 to 2017, the recent spate of casualties on roads in North Wales are of great concern, and I will be directly asking the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Transport how he is working to address this.”
