Action for Children is bringing its Never Mind the Business music quiz and live music event back to Swansea after raising a £37,000 at its inaugural Welsh event last year.

This year’s night of live music and chaos will take place on the 12th October at Brangwyn Hall in Swansea and will be hosted once again by BBC Wales’ Wynne Evans with the main sponsors Douglas Jones Mercer and Towergate Insurance.

The strictly t-shirts and jeans event gives businesses across Swansea and South Wales the chance to put their pop music knowledge to the test and enjoy live music sets while raising money for disadvantaged children and young people supported by Action for Children.

Paul Thorburn, former Welsh rugby international, Douglas Jones Mercer representative and chairman of the Never Mind the Business Swansea committee, said: ‘We were thrilled to raise over £37k last October especially as there was a special fundraising segment for the charity’s Ty Laura’s short breaks sensory room that raised £5,500 alone.

‘We made an immediate difference to the lives of the children and young people in our community and that is spurring us on to make this year’s Never Mind the Business Swansea even bigger and better. It’s a brilliant night out for a brilliant cause and I hope more businesses get involved this year so we can smash last year’s total.’

Nina Rice, fundraiser for Action for Children in Wales, added: ‘We’re very proud Never Mind the Business Swansea is becoming a fixture on the city’s busy social calendar. Tables are available to book now so we recommend companies book early to avoid disappointment as the event went down a storm last year with friends and colleagues letting their hair down and putting their music knowledge to the ultimate test. It’s a wonderful way to raise money for the children and young people we proudly serve in Swansea and across the UK.’
