There’s a double header of action at Stebonheath Park in Llanelli on Saturday where fans can enjoy Welsh Premier League and Betfred League 1 action on the same ticket.
First at 11am, Llanelli Knights host the up and coming Rhondda Outlaws who are having a superb second season in the competition.
After recording just a solitary win last season, the Outlaws have already taken the scalps of the more experienced Cardiff Blue Dragons and Bridgend Blue Bulls sides.
However they know they’ll have their work cut out against a Llanelli outfit who have lost every game, but fought all the way in their last outing against Bridgend.
Outlaws’ coach James Allen said: “We still have a lot of learning to do but we are playing with more confidence. Saturday’s game against the Knights will be an exciting as both side are still learning and developing as the new sides in the competition. Hopefully we can play well enough to get another win. With an early kick off and the Raiders game to look forward to we are using the day as team bonding. Happy teams play happy rugby.”
At 3pm, West Wales Raiders host Cumbrian club Whitehaven with Raiders still looking for their first win in the semi-professional ranks.
Connor Farrer should return to the West Wales squad for his 100th professional appearance, whilst Whitehaven have named a 17-man squad which includes the return of club legend Scott McAvoy but doesn’t include Welsh international Lewis Reece.
Also in League 1 on Saturday, North Wales Crusaders travel to London Skolars.
Meanwhile on Sunday, there’s a day’s worth of festivities at the Centre of Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach as “Magic Day” sees six junior WRL games starting at 10am.
WRL development manager Paul Chambers said: “The Magic Day is an exciting addition to our junior fixture list this year. It gives the players in these age groups a great opportunity to showcase their skills in an all day spectacular at the one central location. There will be East and West Origin selectors present as well as some of the Wales 16’s and Coleg y Cymoedd coaching staff.”
Admission to the whole day is £3 for adults with children under 16 free.
