Armed Forces Day is held annually to support our Service men and women. It is a showcase for the fantastic work undertaken by our military and provides an event for people to say thank you to our Armed Forces for their invaluable contribution to our nation.
Welsh Conservatives last month announced their âNew Deal for the Armed Forces in Walesâ which included proposals to introduce a Welsh Service Pupil Premium to support children of armed forces personnel and appoint an Armed Forces Commissioner for Wales (link in the notes to editors).

Commenting on the event, Shadow Secretary for Public Services and Communities, Mark Isherwood AM, said:

âToday is the opportunity for the public to show how grateful they are for the hard work and sacrifice of our entire Armed Forces community: from troops serving on the front line, to service families, to veterans of previous conflicts and to those serving as cadetsâ.
âOur incredible Armed Forces are not only vital for our ongoing national defence, they play a hugely important day-to-day role in areas including disaster relief, humanitarian support and international peacekeeping. That is why it is so important that we use today to show our gratitude for the efforts and professionalism of our military personnelâ.
âThis year Wales is hosting the National Event in Llandudno, which places our country at the heart of Armed Forces day celebrations. As such, I urge people across Wales to get involved with todayâs events and show how much we appreciate and value our Service men and womenâ.
