ELUNED MORGAN SETS UP “ONE-STOP, POP UP” ADVICE SHOP IN PENPARCAU

PENPARCAU COMMUNITY HUB BE BUSTLING ON FRIDAY MORNING (13TH JULY), AS ASSEMBLY MEMBER ELUNED MORGAN BRINGS HER MONEY ADVICE AND WELL-BEING ROADSHOW TO ABERYSTWYTH.

More than a dozen local and national groups will be present at the pop-up event aimed at helping local residents to access advice and support. Information will be available about a wide range of topics from benefit changes to energy savings and how to stay fit and healthy ahead of the roll out of Universal Credit in Ceredigion.

Eluned Morgan AM said:

“Many are finding that their household budgets are squeezed as bills continue to rise.  For many people, especially on lower incomes, the changing benefits system and the increasing cost of living is making life much more stressful.  In preparation for the roll out of Universal Credit, I’ve been speaking to local organisations to put together an event that makes it easy for people to get the information they need, all under one roof.

Universal Credit will also have an impact on self-employed people or those considering self-employment, which is why I’ve also asked the Department of Work and Pensions to come along to explain how the changes will work.”

Everyone attending will be entered into a prize draw and an official event booklet detailing moneysaving tips, healthy living ideas and essential contact information for local organisations.

RAISE A CONCERN

Eluned Morgan will be holding an advice surgery during the event, where local residents can raise a concern about an issue in their community or ask a question about the role of the National Assembly for Wales at the event taking place between 10.30am and 1pm.

There will be free health checks by the British Liver Trust, the chance to find out how to take up a new volunteering opportunity with CAVO and the Citizen’s Advice Bureau will also be on hand to offer support.

A full list of the organisations taking part can be found on the special Your Health, Your Wealth website: www.yourhealthyourwealth.org [1] which will feature videos and useful information on each organisation taking part.
