Help for businesses in Wales to address flooding risks
Almost one in six properties in Wales is at risk of flooding. The Environment Agency’s Flood Awareness Wales programme promotes flood awareness to priority communities.
This work is vital as the world’s climate continues to change and the risk of flooding increases. Although many areas do have flood defences, it will not always be possible to build higher and higher defences.
Flood Awareness Wales works in partnership with communities to share their risk of flooding with them and to help them become more aware of the steps they can take to better prepare and protect their homes and families when flooding occurs.
Flood Awareness Wales has three main elements:
- the Welly Boot awareness-raising tour
- door-to-door visits to individuals to discuss potential local flood risk
- engagement with communities and business groups
