10-year-old Alisha’s marathon 50k swim, run and ride raises £1,500 for Action for Children
A 10-year-old girl from Port Talbot has literally gone the extra mile for charity by swimming, running and riding 50 kilometres for Action for Children’s NPT Swansea Community Short Breaks project.
Alisha Lewis raised over £1,500 for the project that supports children and young people with disabilities to access community activities. It also provides overnight stays with Link Carers in the area.
Alisha completed the challenge at Afan Lido swimming pool and was rewarded with a well-deserved celebration cake.
Alisha said: ‘I know about the project as my mother works there and children at school go out with the groups. I just wanted to do something to help these children have the same opportunities that I have. I had brilliant support from friends and family and I’m so pleased to have raised so much money that can really help children and young people with disabilities.’
Mum, Caroline, said: ‘I’m so proud of Alisha. That’s a huge challenge for an adult let alone a 10-yr-old girl and she took it on with such determination. I love how she has used this marathon effort to benefit children and young people with disabilities in her own community. The fantastic amount of money she raised will make an immediate difference to the lives of those who need it most.’
It’s not too late to donate and celebrate Alisha’s wonderful achievement. Her just giving page can be found here https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/alisha-lewis1
