Police Constable Convicted Of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm

NEWS UPDATE

On 13th July 2018, following a five day trial at Swansea Crown Court, Dyfed-Powys Police Constable James Morgans was convicted of Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm. The offence occurred whilst the officer was off-duty.

On Friday 3rd August 2018, PC Morgans returned to Swansea Crown Court appearing before His Honour Judge Geraint Walters for sentence. He received an eight month custodial sentence suspended for two years and is the subject of a three year Restraining Order not to contact the victim. PC Morgans is required to pay £500 compensation to his victim and to complete 180 hours of unpaid community work.

Dyfed-Powys Police is proceeding with an internal misconduct process.

Deputy Chief Constable Darren Davies said:

“Dyfed Powys Police expects the highest standard of professional behaviour from our officers and staff and the appropriate action will be taken to maintain these standards. We will always deal robustly with individuals whose behaviour on or off duty brings discredit to Dyfed-Powys Police and the Police Service.”
