Burry Port Raft Race 2018

Despite being postponed until the Sunday (August 12) due to the weather on Saturday,
Burry Port Raft Race 2018, was once again, a tremendous success with the
harbour walls jam-packed with spectators cheering on the array of rafts.

The event organised by Burry Port couple, Craig and Isabel Goodman,
raised much needed funds for both Burry Port RNLI and a children’s
football academy they run in The Gambia.

The event, was compered by Helen Enser Morgan from Radio
Carmarthenshire, who entertained the crowds in the run up to the launch
and kept everyone updated with live race commentary!

Craig said: “We’d like to thank everyone who helped make the day a big
success – all our friends & family who assisted during the day; Burry
Port RNLI for their invaluable support; Radio Carmarthenshire, and to
all the raft teams and everyone who came down to watch the event.”

Isabel added: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to our overall sponsor
again this year, Dawsons, and to all our sponsors – Burns Pet Nutrition,
The Marine Group – Burry Port Harbour, Barberry Construction, Llanelli
Star, Celtic Couriers, Burry Port Co-op, Parker Plant Hire, LBS Builders
Merchants and Pembrey and Burry Port Town Council. We’d also like to
say a big thank you to City Loo Hire, St John’s Ambulance, and Owens
Group. Without everyone’s support, this event could not have taken
place.”
