We received reports of a lorry driving recklessly through Llanddewi Brefi shortly before 11am on Monday (August 20). The 44 tonne vehicle collided with a car and hedges before becoming stuck at an unclassified road – known locally as Hostel Road – blocking it completely.
The driver was arrested with the help of local residents, who stayed with him while officers made their way to the scene.
A 48-year-old foreign national, Ioan Sandu, blew three times the drink-drive limit in police custody and was charged with drink driving. He was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison and banned from driving for 28 months.
