Last Friday (August 24) saw Llanelli’s Selwyn Samuel Centre host a charity event! This was courtesy of ten-year-old Maddison Darby who held the fundraiser for Prince Philip Hospital’s ICU (Intensive Care Unit) ward. The youngster from Ysgol Brynteg in Llanelli along with her friend Ffion-Maye Conde (also ten years of age) held the disco with show and raffle and even threw in some karaoke for good measure.
Ffion-Maye Conde has been the finalist for Miss Beauty UK and donned her sash. Both girls thoroughly enjoyed the event and it was plain to see. The event also celebrated the 44th wedding anniversary of her late grandparents. Maddison has previously raised over £200 pounds for the ICU Ward in West Wales General Hospital (Glangwili). This was after the effect of losing her nan Diana Darby who was former Chair of Llanelli’s Rural Council.
The ten year old had the incentive to yet again give a little back to those that treated her late grandad Peter Darby. With some donations still to come in so far the figure raised last Friday evening was a very respectable £364. The final amount will be handed to staff at the ICU Ward in Prince Philip Hospital this Friday (June 1).
