Who should attend?
If you or your children live in or are travelling to current outbreak areas or fall into any of the following, please consider coming to our clinics, or going to your GP for an MMR jab:
- Babies and toddlers who have had their first MMR jab, but not yet received the second one at age three years and four months, can have this second vaccination early. A clear month must have passed since the first MMR jab, to ensure the follow-on one is effective. So children before the age of three years four months can have their second MMR jab now, provided their first jab was at least a month ago.
- You are an adult who is unsure whether you have had measles, or your vaccination status; particularly if you are a carer, or work with children, or in health services. (Most people born before 1970 are probably immune, because they are likely to have been exposed to measles.) So adults who are worried that they may not have immunity can consider vaccination.
- During this outbreak, babies can have their MMR earlier than the routine first one usually given at 13 months. However, they must be at least six months old for the vaccine to be effective. So babies aged six months -12 months can have an MMR jab at this clinic.
